WELCOME TO J'S KITCHEN
Taste and See
I am my father’s business
J's Kitchen
our story
My name is Joyce and I have a passion for hospitality and food. I was originally born in Nigeria and came to the UK when I was 6 months old. I have a BSc degree in Business Enterprise and Management and have over 15 years experience in the Business, Customer Service and Hospitality field.
I didn’t realise my passion in serving people until I joined my local church. Ever since I have taken time and money to invest in myself and improve my cooking and serving skills.
My excitement to cook for people, comes from knowing I am cooking from the heart with purpose. Just seeing the expressions of joy, on people’s faces is such a warmth feeling. My love for Caribbean food stems from my childhood friend’s house. Her mum’s cooking always set my taste buds alight! This made me want to know more about the culture; spices and flavour combinations. My desire to learn African food goes back to the years when I use to help my late aunty in the kitchen. I use to follow her to the market and watch her stand for ages in the kitchen, turning out amazing food with so much flavour; to feed the family. Years later I gained experience, working as a chef, in various professional kitchens, collaborations with other organisations and the opportunity to provide tantalising food for functions.
These combined moments are what has helped me create my own unique flavours and service, to present to you J’s Kitchen.
One who eats alone cannot discuss the taste of the food with others
